Red River Gorge Weddings & Elopements

Red River Château hosts intimate weddings, elopements and wedding weekends on a cliff-top ridge in Kentucky's Red River Gorge. Your core party of up to 15 stays on site, with outdoor ceremony space, decks over the gorge and room to celebrate indoors.

Ways to marry here

Small by design

  • Elopements

Just the two of you, or you plus an officiant and photographer. Marry on the ridge, then have the house to yourselves.

  • Micro-weddings

Your closest family and friends, a ceremony outdoors, and dinner together afterward.

  • Wedding weekends

Book the house for two or three nights. Up to 15 of your people sleep on site, from rehearsal dinner to farewell breakfast.

A wedding weekend, start to finish

Here's one way a two-night wedding weekend at the house could look:

  1. Friday, 4 PM: check in, settle rooms, and have a casual rehearsal dinner in the great room.
  2. Saturday morning: get ready with five full bathrooms, then take first-look photos on the deck.
  3. Saturday afternoon: hold the ceremony outdoors on the ridge, followed by dinner and toasts.
  4. Saturday night: the hot tub, the loft, and a last drink on the porch.
  5. Sunday, by 11 AM: farewell breakfast and check-out.

Why here

Why couples consider the château

  • A real cliff-top backdrop

The house sits on the sandstone rim of a forested gorge, so the view is the decoration.

  • Everyone under one roof

Sleeps 15 with 5 full baths, so getting ready isn't a scramble.

  • Photos without a drive

Decks, the glass gable and the forest are right outside, and Natural Bridge and the Gorge's overlooks are a short drive for a second session.

Photo spots nearby

Beyond the house, the Red River Gorge region has well-known sandstone scenery for portraits. Natural Bridge State Resort Park is about 25–30 minutes away, and the Gorge's arches and overlooks such as Chimney Top Rock and Sky Bridge are farther north. Popular overlooks get busy at sunset on autumn weekends. Go on a weekday or early in the morning, and check current access with the Forest Service or state park before you plan a shoot.

Wedding FAQ

How many guests can attend a wedding at Red River Château?

The house sleeps 15 overnight. It suits elopements and intimate weddings best. If you'd like more guests for the ceremony or dinner than stay overnight, tell us your number and we'll confirm honestly what the house and grounds can handle.

Where does the ceremony take place?

There are outdoor gathering and ceremony areas on the property, plus the decks and porch. We'll walk you through the options for your date and group size.

Can we bring our own vendors?

Vendor policies (catering, officiant, photographer, rentals) are confirmed with each couple. Ask when you inquire.

Where can guests stay if there are more than 15?

Additional guests usually book nearby cabins or Hemlock Lodge at Natural Bridge State Resort Park, about 25–30 minutes away. Our planning guide covers guest lodging in more detail.

What's the best time of year for a Red River Gorge wedding?

Mid-to-late October brings the fall color many couples want, and it books early. April and May bring spring green and wildflowers. Summer is hot and humid with afternoon storms, and winter is quiet but some Gorge roads close.

Can we get married in the Red River Gorge itself?

Parts of the Gorge are national forest land managed by the U.S. Forest Service. Rules for ceremonies there can change, so check directly with the Daniel Boone National Forest before planning one. A ceremony at the house avoids that step.
